The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded Grunley a contract for the $15.1 million exterior restoration of the Sidney Yates Building, located at 14th and Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. The Sidney Yates Building serves as the headquarters for the United States Forest Service. The five-story building measures approximately 188,000 gross square feet and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Grunley has previously completed the interior renovation of the Sidney Yates Building.
The exterior construction services will be fulfilled according to historic preservation requirements and will include upgrades to the façade such as re-pointing mortar and masonry repairs; window repainting and repairs; perimeter gutter replacement; repairs to moats and moat railings; and repainting doors, lamp posts and other ornamental elements. The building will remain occupied throughout the construction and access to the building will remain secured and controlled at all times. The project is expected to have a two-year duration.
