Grunley to Restore Exterior of Historic Sidney Yates Building
“After recently completing the interior renovation, we are thrilled to work with the Forest Service and GSA again to deliver the same high quality construction services to enhance the building’s exterior,” said Chip Scott.
The Sidney Yates Building serves as the headquarters for the United States Forest Service. The five-story building measures approximately 188,000 gross square feet and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Grunley completed the interior renovation at the Sidney Yates Building and the build-out of the child development center two years ago.
“We are proud to have the opportunity to restore the exterior of the historic Sidney Yates Building,” said Chip Scott, Senior Vice President and Operations Manager at Grunley. “After recently completing the interior renovation, we are thrilled to work with the Forest Service and GSA again to deliver the same high quality construction services to enhance the building’s exterior.”
The exterior construction services will be fulfilled according to historic preservation requirements and will include upgrades to the façade such as re-pointing mortar and masonry repairs; window repainting and repairs; perimeter gutter replacement; repairs to moats and moat railings; and repainting doors, lamp posts and other ornamental elements. The building will remain occupied throughout the construction and access to the building will remain secured and controlled at all times. The project is expected to commence this month and have a two-year duration.
