grunley awarded USDA SOUTH BUILDING PHASE 4A RENOVATION

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Procurement Operations Division awarded Grunley the Phase 4A (Wing 5) renovation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture South Building in Washington, DC. The contract is valued at $16.5 million.

The USDA South building is configured with two main sections connected by seven shorter wings. Grunley has successfully bid and renovated three phases, all of which are competitively bid in series after each phase is completed. Grunley has also completed four window restoration projects at the exterior of the building. At the completion of all the phases, the modernization of the building aims to achieve LEED® Silver rating.

Phase 4A consists of the renovation of the subbasement, basement, 6 above grade floors and attic spaces. The renovation consists of a complete removal of the interior finishes and MEP distribution systems down to the original concrete encased steel, floor slabs and original façade. We will then install new interior walls, finishes, MEP and life safety systems. Included in this contract is also the historic preservation of the first floor, which includes the restoration the existing tile, marble, and wood architectural finishes. Phase 4A will be completed one year from construction notice to proceed.
