Washington, DC

Current Status

Grunley Construction has completed Phases 1 through 20, and the overall project is approximately 98% complete. This includes all of the floors in the South Building, the West Building and the North Building of the Forrestal Life Safety Project. The scope of work included asbestos abatement, ceiling demolition, installation of new sprinkler and fire alarm systems, new ceilings, lights, and air supply diffusers.

The final fire alarm testing and all of the punchlists for the South Building have been completed. We anticipate conveying the South Building in early March.

The preliminary fire alarm testing and the preliminary punchlists in the West Buildings have also been completed. Final fire alarm testing in the West Building will begin after the South Building has been accepted by the Owner.

What’s Next?

After the South Building has been accepted by DOE and GSA, the demolition of the existing fire alarm wiring and conduit will begin. While the demolition in the South Building is being performed, final fire alarm testing in the West Building and preliminary fire alarm testing in the North Building will be completed. After approval of the new fire alarm systems in the West and North Buildings, demolition of the existing fire alarm system in both buildings will follow.

During March, the areaway and enclosure for the emergency generator will also be completed.

All work under Grunley’s contract is expected to be completed in the Summer 2010.
