Current Status
The cast in place structure of the first building (Building F) is now complete and rough in work has begun on the first level. The basement level foundations and elevator pit are in place and the remaining foundations are nearing completion on the second building (Building K). Work in other areas include relocating:
- A concrete and masonry screen wall to make room for a new transformer, new chiller, and cooling tower
- An existing generator
New underground utilities are in place.
What’s Next?
Roofing and exterior skin on Building F is set to begin. Other work to be performed includes:
- Continuing MEP rough ins up through the first building along with the framing of interior partitions.
- Structural steel erection for the second building, Building K, will be starting within the next few weeks.
- Connecting the underground electric and communications ductbanks to the new buildings.
- Setting the new cooling tower and connecting the new chiller.
- Masonry is beginning in the first building and in other areas of the project.
Once completed, Building F will be a 3-story concrete structure and Building K will be a 3-story steel structure with a concrete basement. Both buildings will include new high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems, blast resistant windows, brick facades and flat roofs. The two buildings will serve as administrative and instructional spaces for the State Department. Work to the Central Plant will complete this summer.
