grunley construction makes
donation to children's national
medical center

Rockville, MD – On August 7, 2006 Grunley Construction, a local general contractor, donated 350 CAN-DO© stuffed animals to Children’s National Medical Center for distribution to patients. CAN-DO© is the firm’s mascot and was inspired by the “can do” attitude of all Grunley employees, a trait that has helped the firm renovate numerous historic buildings and monuments over the last 50 years.

It is in this spirit that Ken and Ginny Grunley, President and Treasurer of Grunley Construction, respectively, presented the bears to Terry Orzechowski, Children’s Director of Volunteer Services and Consumer Support, during a special ceremony. “The CAN-DO© bear signifies the positive attitude of all of the truly talented people that make Grunley Construction a unique and special place,” said Ms. Grunley. “Similarly, Children’s carries a reputation for being the best, and being the best at anything requires this “can do” attitude. Today we recognize Children’s for their “can do” attitude and commitment to children every day.” A donation from the Ken and Ginny Grunley Charitable Trust Foundation was presented to Children’s Department of Volunteer Services and Consumer Support for future supplies and services.

In accepting the donation, Ms. Orzechowski thanked Grunley Construction and Ken and Ginny for recognizing how important the Volunteer Services program is to the patients of the hospital. She spoke of what the program accomplishes, and how both the CAN-DO©  bear and the financial contribution will be used toward these ends.

Following the presentation, numerous Grunley staff, including project managers, superintendents, field staff and office staff played games with children from the hospital.

Grunley Construction provides the full spectrum of construction professional services, and is well known for its expertise in renovations, restorations, modernizations and additions. It is listed among the Engineering News Record’s Top 400 Contractors.
