GRUNLEY TO BUILD EXPANSION PLANT FOR IRS COMPUTING FACILITY IN WEST VIRGINIA
Rockville, MD – (June 14, 2010) Grunley Construction Company, Inc. has been awarded a $37 million contract for the construction of a new two-story 51,600 SF Expansion for the IRS Enterprise Computing Center (ECC) in Kearneysville, WV. This project, awarded by the General Services Administration’s Mid-Atlantic region based in Philadelphia, is a continuation of Grunley’s growth outside the Washington metro area.
Grunley will construct the new plant, which is directly adjacent to the existing ECC, without interruption to the facility’s 24/7 operations. Careful coordination will be a top priority and smooth transitions will be essential during the phased start-up of the new building. The work is in a high-security facility that houses several Internal Revenue Service programs, activities, and numerous senior level executives.
Grunley Construction, headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, is ranked by Engineering News Record among the “Top 400” and "Top Green Contractors" in the United States.
