THE GSA AWARDS GRUNLEY CONSTRUCTION
TWO PROJECTS ON FDA CAMPUS
Rockville, MD – (October 10, 2007) The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded Grunley Construction, a local general contractor, two projects on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Campus in White Oak, MD: the Renovation of Building One and a Data Center Fit-out. Both of these projects were designed by KlingStubbins in association with RTKL. Construction is scheduled to start immediately on both projects.
The Building One project includes the complete renovation of a ~100,000 SF existing building with selected spaces to receive historic restoration. The project also includes a significant sitework package. It involves removing the entire main entrance to the FDA Campus, located off of New Hampshire Avenue, and providing a new upgraded entrance to the campus and Building One. The contract totals $34,000,000 and will be completed in the fall of 2008.
The Data Center Fit-out project involves building a ~20,000 SF Data Center in an existing shell space within the new CSU Building. The scope includes heavy mechanical and electrical work and will have selective demolition, metal fabrications, drywall/ceilings, special concrete floor coatings, access flooring, and sprinklers. The contract is valued at $8,000,000 and will wrap-up in the summer 2008.
