At the Ford House Office Building, Grunley Construction replaced original steel casement windows (1300 +/-) with new aluminum windows fabricated to match the sight lines of the original. Because the building is occupied by staff of The Architect of the Capitol, all work was performed at night. Work was phased on a floor by floor basis.
Associated work included:
- Temporary protection of window openings,
- Demolition of the existing lead covered windows,
- Patching of drywall surrounds,
- Painting, and
- The replacement of the exterior head flashings.
