This project involved Phase 1B demolition and abatement
work at the Harry S Truman Building, the third largest federal building in Washington, DC. The building serves as the headquarters of the U.S. Department of State and office of the U.S. Secretary of State, the body and executive responsible for the foreign affairs of the United States. The building, constructed in the 1930s, houses 8,000 federal workers.
This is an initial project leading
to follow-on renovation and modernization
phases, yet to be awarded. In addition to
demolition and abatement work, Grunley will:
- Salvage and reinstall existing stone and protect
stone and other finishes to remain - Construct an emergency egress stair for use
during construction
