This project involved renovating 321,000 SF of existing building space and 15,000 SF of new construction at 330 C Street, SW Washington, DC. The facility houses several agencies, including the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. International Broadcasting Bureau, and the General Services Administration. One-half of the building remained occupied during the Phase 1 construction period. Grunley was awarded Phase 2 on 6/30/09.
The scope involved:
- Complete removal of the existing interior construction except for portions of the facility that were identified as historic
- New HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, and energy-efficient lighting
- The removal and replacement of the existing single glazed steel curtainwall with new thermally improved curtainwall systems.
- Hazardous material removal
- Renovation/replacement of elevators
The project is seeking LEED NC 2.1 Silver certification.
