Grunley Construction was awarded Phase 4A of the renovation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture South Building by the USDA Procurement Operations Division. The USDA South building is configured with two main sections connected by seven shorter wings. Grunley has successfully bid and renovated three phases, all of which are competitively bid in series after each phase is completed. Grunley has also completed four window restoration projects at the exterior of the building. At the completion of all the phases, the modernization of the building aims to achieve LEED® Silver rating.

Phase 4A consists of the modernization of the above grade levels of Wing 5 of the USDA South Building. The building includes six floors above grade, an attic mechanical level and an elevator penthouse; there is also some isolated work in on the egress stairs and equipment rooms in the basement and sub-basement levels. Selective demolition and reconstruction fitout within the occupied historic building will occur with new mechanical, electrical systems, elevator restoration.  New restrooms, office spaces, telecom closets, electrical and mechanical rooms and roof and facade repairs and replacement.
