Grunley Construction was the Design-Build contractor on the 17th Street Modernization of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) project. This design-build project covered 192,000 sf of the massive building's 692,000 sf of space.

Today the EEOB is regarded as one of the nation’s premier architectural treasures and is a designated National Historic Landmark. The structure’s several wings have been the subjects of various restoration and renovation activity for much of the past 20 years.

The 17th Street Wing contract was the first phase of a massive upgrade/renovation effort that will transform the building into a modernized, state-of-the-art facility incorporating flexible office space while preserving the building’s most important historic features.

The design-build team was led by Grunley Construction with contractor Coakley & Williams Construction, Inc., of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and architecture and engineering firm Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, Inc., (HSMM) of Washington.
