This design/build project involves modernizing the State Place Wing (south wing) and half of the east and center wings of the EEOB building. Grunley recently completed the modernization of the 17th Street Wing (west wing) of EEOB under its Phase I contract. As a whole, the building provides office space for approx. 1,500 Federal workers, including the Office of the Vice President.
The Phase II scope includes the installation of a new HVAC system, along with an entirely new electrical power and telecommunications infrastructure. The South Courtyard will be renovated, select areas will be restored to their historic condition, and hazardous material abatement and containment will be performed where necessary.
The building will be designed to obtain certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED™) rating system for Existing Buildings.
