Old State Demolition involved the dismantling and removal of most of the interior of the original building of the U.S. Department of State (Old State). This portion of the complex was originally completed in 1939 and was dismantled in phases to allow for the gradual relocation of tenants.

This was the first step in a process that will ultimately result in the renovation of the entire Main State Department complex.
