The USDA South building is configured with two main sections connected by seven shorter wings. Grunley successfully renovated three phases, and completed four window restoration projects at the exterior of the building.
Phase 4A consisted of the modernization of the above grade levels of Wing 5 of the USDA South Building. The building includes six floors above grade, an attic mechanical level and an elevator penthouse. There was also some isolated work on the egress stairs and equipment rooms in the basement and sub-basement levels. Selective demolition and reconstruction fitout within the occupied historic building was performed with new mechanical, electrical systems, elevator restoration. New restrooms, office spaces, telecom closets, electrical and mechanical rooms and roof and facade repairs and replacement were performed.
The Phase 4A modernization recently earned LEED CI 2.0 Gold certification.
