Grunley renovated over 111,000 GSF of building and laboratory space at the headquarters of the U.S. Geological Survey, located in Reston, VA. Our firm performed asbestos and lead abatement; demolished and re-built over 100 scientific research laboratories; demolished and re-built or renovated over 30 offices, public corridors, computer and conference rooms and support space; upgraded existing MEP & sprinkler systems; installed automatic controls in the building management system; and added an acid neutralization system.

All work activities, including punch-list and commissioning, were 100% complete at turnover. All work was performed at night, without disrupting on-going scientific work (24/7/365) and while the building remained fully functional for business during normal working hours.

Grunley also performed a design-build elevator renovation.
