Grunley Competes at JDRF Real Estate Games for a Great Cause
The Real Estate Games are held annually at The American University campus, and include a day of sports and games in a friendly competition among area architects, contractors and developers. JDRF was founded in 1970 and uses over 80% of its expenses to support type 1 diabetes research and education. Grunley has participated in the annual games over the past several years and supports the JDRF mission and cause.
The day was full of enthusiasm and anticipation as Grunley interns and employees represented the company on the field, court, pool and track to compete in a variety of sports and games against industry opponents. The sidelines and bleachers were full of proud Grunley attendees, donning custom-made shirts and cheering for their fellow colleagues who pursued the gold and represented Team Grunley!
Grunley participated in a wide variety of events this year, including 3-on-3 men’s basketball, tennis, foosball, swimming events, relays, volleyball, golf, lacrosse and the highly anticipated tug-of-war. Grunley made it to the semi-finals in many categories including basketball, table tennis, 4 x 100M relay, foosball, even winning the men’s 5K run! The pinnacle of the events was the tug-of-war challenge, which was the loudest and most competitive event. Grunley secured a win in its first round, but lost the gold in the end!
Grunley’s staff enjoyed participating in the day’s festivities and supporting juvenile diabetes research. Corey McGrath, of Grunley’s Estimating Department, says “This was my first year competing in the real estate games; it’s a lot of fun! It’s great to see everyone in the industry come together for a great cause.”
