    Grunley Wins $84M High School Contract with Fairfax County Public Schools

    Fairfax County Public Schools has awarded Grunley an $84 million contract to renovate and construct new additions to Herndon High School in Herndon, Virginia.

    Fairfax County Public Schools has awarded Grunley an $84 million contract to renovate and construct new additions to Herndon High School in Herndon, Virginia. The full renovation of the school will include 138,558 square feet of additions and modifications that will expand the school to 431,000 square feet with a capacity for 2,500 students. The completed project will feature new administrative areas, a library, classrooms and science labs, music rooms, a Blackbox theatre, art facilities, fitness and locker rooms, a wrestling room and a gymnastics space. In addition, the existing school building will be fully renovated, including new plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm and protection systems. Grunley will also complete upgrades to the campus that include a new bus loop, additional parking, bike racks and improved stormwater management. This occupied renovation is scheduled to begin in January 2018 and reach substantial completion in August 2021.
