Grunley to Build New Fairmont Heights High School

Grunley begins construction on $78.8M high school replacement project.

This past spring, Prince George's County Public Schools and Prince George’s County Board of Education selected Grunley for the $78.8 million replacement of Fairmont Heights High School. Construction commenced this month at the new site for the school, located at the corner of South Club Drive and Columbia Park Road in Hyattsville, Maryland.

The new 193,000 square foot high school will replace the existing facility and accommodate almost 1,000 students. The design of the new school—by Grimm and Parker Architects—entails improved layouts that will maximize the potential for usage by different community groups, while also separating the academic and administrative spaces from the full size gymnasium, cafeteria and auditorium. The high school will have new athletic facilities comprised of a stadium, soccer field, baseball field and athletic support amenities. The large project site will be constructed in three phases, with an expected completion of summer 2017.
