Grunley Hosts Topping Out Celebration at Milken

Grunley celebrates first live-streamed placing of a final beam

On Friday, April 15th, Grunley celebrated the topping out of our Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream (MCAAD) project! The large, complex renovation project is comprised of three historic buildings that are being modernized to provide a museum space with an auditorium, a banquet hall, and private offices for the Milken Foundation. Other features will include a mechanical plant, utility hub, kitchen, broadcast studio, IT support, primary entrances, office space for outside tenants, as well as a private club space on the 10th and 12th floors. Select areas of the buildings’ interiors are being retained, salvaged, and restored, and the key facades of all three buildings are being preserved.

The topping out celebration opened with brief remarks from members of the project team, followed by Grunley's first live-streamed placing of the final beam! With more than 200 guests, it was not feasible to watch the topping out by traditional means. Grunley's Marketing Team worked with our IT Department to develop an innovative solution that kept everyone connected to the live experience - setting up a Teams meeting between a phone with the perfect view on the 9th floor and a laptop connected to a projector screen on the 10th. After the beam was placed, the event continued with additional remarks from members of the project team and a barbecue-style lunch.
