Grunley Mascaro Construction, LLC, to Renovate the Science West Building on Montgomery College's Rockville Campus

Montgomery College has selected Grunley Mascaro Construction, LLC, to renovate the Science West Building on its Rockville campus. The building, constructed in 1971, requires additional space to accommodate the demand of students seeking high-quality programs in science, engineering, and mathematics.

The work will entail renovations to the existing 69,000-square-foot, two-story building which will house new classrooms, laboratories, a math emporium, open study areas, a lecture hall, and an administrative suite. A new third floor and elevator are included as part of the project scope. Two separate pedestrian bridges will connect to the recently constructed Science Center and Macklin Tower buildings. Distribution of new site utilities, installation of a stormwater management system, and comprehensive landscaping will also be included. The contract is valued at $22 million. Stantec Architecture served as the lead architect with Cho Benn Holback + Associates as exterior architect.

Grunley Mascaro combines the expertise and ethics-based core values of two family-owned general contractors in the pursuit of life sciences projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. “This marks the beginning of a long and successful future for Grunley Mascaro Construction, LLC,” said Ken Grunley, principal of Grunley Mascaro.
