Grunley Participates in WSSC Water's Laboratory Division Building Expansion Groundbreaking Ceremony

Grunley celebrates groundbreaking for recent project win for WSSC

On Tuesday, June 28th, Grunley participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for our recent project win for WSSC Water’s Laboratory Division Building Expansion project in Silver Spring, Maryland. The festive groundbreaking ceremony featured special remarks from Suzanne Dorsey, Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of the Environment; Carla Reid, General Manager/CEO of WSSC Water; Fausto Bayonet, Chair of the WSSC Water Commission; and our very own Bill Six. At the conclusion of the speeches, all attendees were given a glass beaker cup, engraved with the day’s groundbreaking event details, that was filled with WSSC water! In unison, we all toasted the start of the project as the white-coat clad laboratory staff shot colorful confetti from handheld confetti cannons.

When complete, the $24.5 million project will provide a new 19,720 SF addition that features 6,000 SF of new laboratory space, and 13,000 SF of office and laboratory support space to allow WSSC Water to continue ensuring another century of safe water to the residents of Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The project is expected to achieve substantial completion in February 2024.
