Grunley Receives Honorable Mention during CANstruction 2021

On Sunday, November 21st, Grunley partnered with Fentress | Architects to participate in CANstruction 2021! The nationwide program aims to raise awareness about hunger. In DC, CANstruction is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation as a creative design-build competition that benefits the Capital Area Food Bank through donations of all canned goods used during the event. This year's theme was Children's Books. After six hours of sorting and stacking, our team recreated a scene from The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister using 2,851 cans. After judging took place on November 29th, our team received the honorable mention for Most Immersive Structure!
Grunley would like to thank Fentress | Architects for partnering with us; designing our sculpture and team t-shirts; ordering the cans; and creating the templates and poster for Build! day. Congratulations to the entire BUILD! team for a successful day supporting this worthy cause. Special thanks to Jody Oergel, Lauren Van Slyke and Terry Johnson for representing Grunley.
