Grunley Celebrates Topping Out for JADOC Phase II Project

Grunley celebrates topping out for Joint Air Defense Operations Complex project

On Wednesday, July 26th, Grunley celebrated the topping out of our Joint Air Defense Operations Complex (JADOC) Phase II project at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, DC! The celebration included brief remarks from Shira Hackman, Project Engineer; Evan Pohlmann, Project Manager; Mike Manko, Superintendent; Clyde Lutter, JADOC Support Manager; Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Jessup, 224th Air Defense Group Detachment 1 Commander; and Matthew Stinson, NAVFAC Public Affairs Officer. After the beam was raised and set in place, attendees enjoyed a barbeque-style lunch.

Vital to safeguarding the skies, JADOC’s command and control centers operate 24/7, relaying information about airspace and air defense around the nation’s capital. The $21.7 million project scope will provide a new two-story 27,000 SF addition that nearly doubles JADOC’s current operations space. This significant milestone marks the successful placement of 416 structural steel members and the beginning of work to construct the building’s envelope and install the interior wall framing.
